Our Coolers are a simple design, but work to keep the cells cool. You can build them yourself or buy them from us. The coolers are made of high quality copper fittings and pressure tested to 125 PSI. We use the coolers on our test cells on a bench and find that with now air flowing over them (like in a car) they cool the cells, and keep them in a temperature that allows the cells to run between 20 and 40 amps without hitting a dangerous heat level. We have run one of our test cells for 8 hours straight at 20 amps. The cell did get warmer (remember the is no air movement) but the temperature stayed within limits to the point that the heat increase was only enough to raise the cell amperage to 25 amps. If you are running a dry cell with a 2 quart or smaller tank, and drive the vehicle for more than a couple of hours. You should have some type of cooler. The added heat can cause seals to fail plastics to melt and electrolyte into your engine. None of which are favorable. If your driving is limited to least than an hour and your amperage doesnt exceed 30 amps, you shouldnt have to run a cooler. We use them on all of our test vehicle and all of our bench cells. |
